Ok if peerblock has sped things up then it might be worth you downloading and running malware bytes or spybot s&d - it's surprising how much background rubbish you accumulate whilst surfing the net.

Out of interest, is peerblock flagging up about 15 VItalstream Inc connections each time you do something?

Yep

Peerblock blocks Malware download funnily enough, but temporarily disabled it.

Yep if you click onto another site from inside another site it will treat it as suspicious - it doesn't let you link to what it suspects are dodgy connections by default. Doesn't matter how fast your net connection is, if you're continually sharing your bandwidth with adverts and tracking cookies you eventually grind to a halt. You only have so much upload bandwidth and if that runs out, you lose your download bandwidth.

I wonder if S2ki is effectively throttling itself with the adverts and other background stuff - but that's far far above my level of skill - i just know mine is ok and now yours is too.

Ok after 3 or 4 refreshes etc here's the list of traffic this site tried to generate.

77.242.195.169
77.242.195.168

If each user is generating up to 15 attempted to this Vitalstream Inc IP range, it's no wonder navigating the site is like trying to sprint through treacle.

I want to know what S2ki is requesting from my machine on these IP ranges and ports - the traffic is all outward from me back to them. It might be this that's the overall problem but it seems a tad more than coincidence that it fixed yours too. I just wish they'd fix it for everyone else!!!

I've installed peerblock too and my problem also seems to be fixed.

However, Peerblock seems to be constantly having to block something.

With only a link to this site open and no activity on my part, Peerblock has blocked around 80 connections to the same IP addresses Fester has listed above in one minute.

I don't pretend to understand it, but it surely can't be good. Particularly as the site was steadily getting worse before i installed peerblock. Instant, dramatic improvement since it was installed.

Edit: An hour after this post i cleared my cache and disabled Peerblock. Site remained fast. As time progresses, its gradually starting to slow down again.

Seems some more work is needed on here.... If i just want to refresh the page I tend to need to do it at least twice, otherwise I get an error screen.
