Special Forum for Model Year 2004?
We actually talked about this before and we decided that there wouldn't be a separate forum for 04 because it's basically the same car as the other model years. It will all smooth out once the hype has passed.
I don't know much about the 04, but wouldn't the engine, gears, suspension mods all be different than the pre 04's? Also, the lips and spoilers are different, as well as the headlights for corner clearing. The stereos are different with XM and headrest speakers. The center console is different, so people will do different mods to it.
It just seems to me that there would be a lot of threads I'd read that wouldn't apply to me, but I wouldn't know until I got in there and started reading it.
I know you don't want to "divide" the community, but if the car was called an S2200, which it should have been, then wouldn't there have been a seperate forum for it? It's just not the same car in reality. Mods wouldn't apply to both, track times wouldn't apply, etc.
Just my .02

The problem is, what do we do with all those threads in 6 months? The 04 is S2000 news, it's what's going on at this point in time so it feature prominently at the moment. Six months or a year from now an 04 forum would seem sort of pointless. I'd rather not create separate forums for transient topics like that.
I think Destiny2002 and I may be talking about two different things. I guess he's talking about a forum for talk about the 2004 S2K, and I'm talking about a forum/section for 2004 S2K owners. 2004 owners will have different needs than pre 2004. Their cars have a different engine, suspension, interior, radio, center console, front and rear end, etc. Their topics won't be the same as a person with a pre 2004 who wants to turbo, supercharge, clear headlights, do the center console from Rick. Their stock rims are different, so their discussions regarding swapping them out will be different. Their dyno and track times will be different.
With all the differences, I think a seperate owners section for 2004 and newer owners in the coming years would be a good idea.
Thanks, sorry for the confusion.

Not to diminish the conversation by talking about the Miata, but I think a good example here is how Miata.net is split between NA and NB models. The NA models include both the 1.6 and 1.8 liter motors, several interior changes as well as different engine periperals (intakes, etc.) and the NB cars are a "complete" redesign of the car including an entirely new body style rather than just freshening of the previous design.
At this point I don't think the "hype" surrounding the 2004 justifies it's own forum on the board. Maybe once the car is out and people are actually driving it and modding it and have questions it will become evident that a new forum would better facilitate the flow of information, but at this point it seems like it's mostly speculation on what MIGHT come to pass rather than addressing an actual need.
Just my $.25 on the subject...
