Default STR Forum

Can we get a STR Prep sub-forum in the racing forum? Just sticky the prep thread. It would save the clutter in the racing forum and give a organize location for all STR related talk.

I agree!

With all the money spent on STR: Suspension, Tires, Tuning, etc.

You would think it would give S2Ki a chance to get one more Forum Sponsor.

Seems like a no brainer to me.

Sounds like a good idea to me. There are many different topics in one str thread.

This is just the first page of searching STR (in title). Basically its a bunch of random info. Looking at the views and participation in the threads, its really popular and beginning to get many redundant posts. Some type of organizing would be helpful.

Note that the creation of a new subforum has little support in Racing and Competition itself: https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/887...-support-this/

Protecting their turf?

Is creating a STR forum better for STR and S2Ki?

It's been my experience that the Racing and Competition Mods want to control what is posted about STR.

Trying to force it all into one over 175 page thread.

Closing treads that express views different than their own.

For example a thread that expressed that 245/40 tires might actually be better for STR than the commonly accepted 255/40 for a number of reasons expressed in the thread was closed by the MOD with the statement "I think since no actual progress was made in this thread, we'll just close it. What I got from it: Yes, we use tires. Yes, tires matter." Now this information becomes buried and updates of success or failure of the concept supressed.

Again a lot of money is spent by people running STR, having an STR Forum is an opportunity for S2Ki to cash in on that (sponsorship targetted advertising, etc). That would be better for both STR and S2Ki.

He closed the thread before I could comment on that part of it, but actually i do support having either an STR subforum or an autocross subforum, and I think the majority of people do as well. Miata.net has a autocross subforum and a track subforum and that works well. Once you know it's autocross, it's usually pretty easy to tell if people are talking about B stock or STR. The suggestion to put STR in the thread title is better than nothing, but having an STR or autocross subforum would:
a) make it much, much more efficient to search
b) make it so we don't have to remember to put STR in the title, or for non-regulars they won't know to do it so you'd need a very active moderator changing thread titles (which we don't have)
c) Make it easier for non-STR people. Right now the racing forum has almost become the STR forum - to the point where if you just ask "what front bar should I get" people will assume you're an autocrosser, which will get you different advice than if you were racing the car on a track.

And there's no downside other than a very small amount of up front work to make the forum and move some of the more important threads over. If you want to make me a temporary moderator I'll help with moving threads over, I've moderated plenty of forums before.
