Default Why Don't Moderaters Moderate.

Well with few exceptions, I don't think they do. The term 'moderater' implies some sort of referee excercising a watchful eye over the progress of a thread and interjecting where necessary to keep the thread 'On Topic', or for any number of other reasons, e.g. the thread is becoming too heated or perhaps too personal.

An arbitrary decision and statement saying 'Thread Locked' isn't moderating guys, it's just plain censorship

O.K. we all know the thread just got locked (again)but I just wonder if it would have been necessary had someone 'moderated' a little earlier in the thread.

Oh well.. I still like my silver/red the best.

To which thread are you referring to?
sometimes we don't catch everything that's going on, that's why there is that little icon to the side that says report this thread to a moderator. If there is a problem with a thread use it. Then we will take care of it.
Believe me If I could my job and do this full time, I would love it. But I can't pay for my S2K with imaginary money

I have heard all kinds of criticism on locking and censorship, including my own, but this is gotta be the first time someone asks for a chaperon.
As much as I hate seeing egotistic moves by moderators, they aren't paid labors to listen in on all threads. They are providing it for free. As much as I complain about moving threads, I'd rather they go overboard locking threads than not locking enough threads.
As for going beyond that, it ain't their job. What do you expect for free service??

I posted a Osama bin Laden joke today that I thought was cute and inoffensive and, bam, it was pulled. Can anyone tell me why?

Those that moderate the forums do a good job in my opinion. I only moderate the Hawaii forum, so I'm not a moderator here. I've read numerous posts where moderators post a message in the thread to try and turn things back on topic. I do think, however, that it's up to the poster to keep it on topic. If people are posting a message in a thread that's off topic, they should ask themselves:

Is this post necessary? Should I start a new topic? If I really post here and it's off topic, should I start out by saying so?

I'm guilty of posting off topic replies in threads too. Moderators do a good job in keep things civil, and when they see a thread get out of hand, they will lock it or move it so that it doesn't get worse. Keep in mind there are only a handful of moderators on this board, and very few on each forum that have to read every post on every thread and make a decision. For the most part, moderators try not to get too involved in threads (my opinion), so that the posters will bring it back on topic or become civil in heated discussions. Sometimes it's just too late, and the thread becomes ugly, and therefore locked. Anyway, that's how I see it.

Mindcore does a good job.

I`ve had a handful of posts deleted and few explanations. Then, a few days later, another board that I frequent is getting spammed by a new member named "s2000" that says I spam this board and have nothing useful to say

Oh well

The thread in question; Showing Defiance

I was watching that thread on 9/29 when it was just a few pictures.. I did not re-read the thread until this morning..( Sorry busy weekend & did not check the board much this weekend) It went from a few pictures to members attacking other members. Also other members reported this thread because of attacks on members.

We all should know the rules of the board.. & What isn't appropriate for this board.. Attacking others members is not appropriate & that is the quickest way to get a thread locked.. But a disagreement among members is fine as long as it does not turn into a personal attack on members
