Default Why so many threads locked?

Just noticed a whole raft of fairly tame sounding threads getting locked. Am I missing something here?

This thread should be in Site Info or else it might get locked.

Some theories:

Some threads are from several years ago and are brought back to life. The ironic thing is, users are then in turn ridiculed for starting new threads for existing topics. Lose-lose for the users. In the meantime, legitimate questions about the thread topic are left unanswered. Silly, IMO.

Some threads are by guests about car pricing. I assume that the s2ki policy is you have to be a paying member in order to post about selling your car? This reason is legit, IMO.

I think that it has been a bit over board lately. If there is an existing and informative thread from years ago that you have a question about why not add to it. The Mods should just lock every thread over year old otherwise.

If the OP feels that this is a site-wide problem, then yes, definitely in site info. However, if it's a S2000 Talk problem, then talking about it here seems to make sense.

I think a lot of the people who get a hard time are the people who ask quested which have been asked and answered many times before. I don't post a lot in S2000 Talk, but these are my feelings for why people get a hard time in UTH. Maybe the reasons are similar.

Maybe their question is slightly different. If they revive an old thread and theirs is different then it's kind of a problem because it's off topic and that's one reason why someone might give them a hard time. In this case, they should have started their own thread. If they list how it's different then that helps a lot.

Maybe their question comes out exactly the same as a previous post and they did search but it didn't help them. So since from their diagnostic side, it appears the same to them so they post it up. Reviving a dead thread here is a little more questionable.

In either of those cases I think the poster would probably be better off if they created a new thread with a useful title and descriptive post. Then also add what you tried and links to other threads that were close but didn't help you.

As far as car pricing, there's a really long what's this car worth thread that doesn't get locked down.

As far as guests selling their S2000s (not other cars or S2000 parts), they are allowed to do it. It's written at the top of the page.
Guests will ONLY be allowed to post their own S2000 for sale. ...

It is really ridiculous to lock threads because they are old. As long as the info is still in there and pictures haven't all disappeared etc don't lock the old threads. Unless of course it is a topic or content that should be locked regardless.

New users are told to search. They search and then find a good but old thread and post it in. A mod then tells them to not bring threads back from the grave and closes the topic. Great way to get noobies to search..

Mods are just on a power trip and they think it makes them powerful or god like to lock a thread or shut down anything they dont like or agree with. Its insane how much a handfull of trolls are forcing their BS and censorship on the rest of us.

Say something a mod doesnt like, get threadlocked /thread
