Amuse exhaust problem
Welding of Ti takes a TIG/MIG welder as a starting point (I'm not considering plasma welders), with an argon or helium gas shield. With typical welding (stainless, etc.), you can be somewhat sloppy in your method and still get a decent weld. There's no such leeway with Ti... if there is any contamination with surrounding air, the weld is extremely weak (hence the inert gas shield). The shield must remain in place around the weld until its temp drops enough (if memory serves, it's somewhere in the 800F range), which is another step that inexperienced welders can make a mistake on.
A quality shop will have an area dedicated to nothing but Ti welding. That's done to prevent contamination from dirt (oils, both human and automotive, metal shavings, dust, etc.). Dedicating an area of the shop large enough to work in and keeping it clean is expensive, therefore you'll either see shops skimping on cleanliness (no dedicated area), or they'll cost you a bundle.

forget about finding a mufler shop to do it for youe, but I highlly doubt you wouldnt find someone locally who could run a MIG with argon with decent experiance (not too uncommon). call up Condo welding depot at (305) 819-2256, they are a welding supply store were I get my stuff, and should be able to reccommend someone locally ( or take care of it themselves).- good luck
Thanks. I called them, they couldn't do it but referred me to someone else. That someone else told me that they haven't worked with Ti in years and do not feel comfortable taking on my request. They do not know anyone else locally that handles Ti.

Maybe you can cut the resonator out and replace it with a section of stainless piping?
mav,
try this place. i found it on the web. not sure if they will even do non-batch work, but it's worth a try. Electron Beam Solutions in Daytona Beach. 386-274-5700
i couldn't find any other places in FL or nearby states that did titanium welding. good luck!

too bad man, you should check out the yellow pages for welding supply and just see who tehy reccommend. Also there are tons of underwater welders in south florida..and those guys are freaking amazing, its not really their thing, but they should be good enough to take on a job.
other than that you might be interested in maybe looking up some of the high end race shops locally (champion motorsports, kanaan racing, etc... places like that that, not tuners, racers ) they might be versed at fabing Ti parts.
