Default Brake Pad Opinions

http://www.importrp.com/catalogm.php?man=3...&year_name=2002
Can you guys take a look and make any recommendations? I think if I just go straight to any Honda dealership, they'll charge me retail for the pads. I've got to change out
all four and replace the driver side rear rotor (on order as discussed in another thread).
Their prices seem to be very aggressive. Not looking for a track pad, just something
good with low dusting. Joe, can your Honda hook-up beat these prices?

Russ, I'm not familiar with the pads that you linked to, but here are some generalizations from my experience with brake pads:

1) The OEM pads give the best performance with low dusting for street use. I buy them through HandA Accessories (handaaccessories.com) - $35.85 front and $43.73 rear plus shipping.

2) More aggressive pads designed for street/autocross/DE event use wear faster and dust more than OEM pads, but give improved performance in terms of resistance to heat and initial bite. They will not let you stop faster when using street rubber, but their feel will be different than the OEM pads.

3) Race-only pads are not appropriate for the street and most will eat up your rotors when used cold.

I have been very happy with Cobalt Friction pads. They are a local shop (Ft. Lauderdale) and the owner Andie Lin has been supportive of our autocross/track events. For your use, I'd recommend either their OEM replacement pad or their GT-Sport pad (though the latter dust more than OEM, but not as much as many other more aggressive pads). If your interested, I can see what he can do for you in terms of price, but they will probably be more than either OEM or the ones you linked to.

Joshua, I guess the best pads for me then will be OEM, as both you and Keith
suggested. I'll contact local shops to see if they have 'em in stock as I'm going to
want this done immediately and don't think HandA can get them to me quick enough.
As always, thanks!
