Authorities say a car fell five floors Monday evening after crashing through a parking deck wall at the Shoppes of Sunset Place in South Miami.

The crash happened at about 5:30 p.m. on Red Road and 72nd Street in Miami.

"I thought they were filming a James Bond movie and no one told us about it," said one witness.

A man in his mid-20s was airlifted to Jackson Memorial Hospital. Officials said the man's injuries turned out to be minor and it is amazing he even survived the fall.

Police said the driver apparently tried to kill himself. He also appeared intoxicated, police said.

The Associated Press reported the man was apparently despondent that his wife was leaving him, and he tried to kill himself.

However, South Miami city spokesman Charles Blazek said the man was wearing his seat belt, and the car landed on its tires. No one else was hurt, even though the car hit a pharmacy on its way down.
