Default Changing Stock Stereo

Have any of you changed your stock radio and speakers? What did you go with? Does it make a big differance? Did you have it installed? Sorry for all the questions but last but not least, does our side controls still work?

yea i changed my radio and speakers in my ap1...

does make a difference...prior guy who had it blew them lol!

you will not be able to use the dial to control volume and such to the left of your steering wheel unless the guy hooking up the radio is good and knows what hes doing..

i need an amp actually b/c i keep browning out...but thats something i cant get right now...

but yea i think theres a difference..

I usually go with Sony select series or Rocksford...also Pioneer is great too! on any of my cars with the dual exteral tweets that you can place somewhere on the door...
but i'm talking from my scion experience on those brands like sony and pioneer.

you can get a DCI from modifry that will make the remote controls on the side of the steering wheel work.

Does it make a difference, yes? you will need an amp, and probalby new speakers and ideally a sub, if you want it to sound good

I changed my Receiver to Alpine, with the Modifry Adapter for Steering Controls. They work great. Did two amps and the whole subwwofer thing..Well worth it...There isnt much real estate to put the add ons but a good installer will improvise..

As far as headunits go, i have always bought Sony series headunits. Pioneer, Kenwood, JVC, and Alpine are also good, but i've never purchased any so i cant give any opinion on their quality.

You can get a nice JL 10" sub and Alpine amp setup for the trunk of your car and it will sound good and clean. Before anything else though, I would get some good component speakers for the interior of your car, they will make a big difference. As stated before, you can keep those controls to the left of the steering wheel with a DCI from modifry.

If you are going to buy an Alpine, make sure you get one with the steering remote compatibility. It's a small 1/8 jack in the back of the radio. Modifry make a DCI that works with that jack.

this way the sun will not be a problem when the radio door is open. I have had both setups and the jacks works best
