I've considered buying a hardtop because I think it would deter thieves. Is it worth the investment? I bought the car for the drop top.

well there was a guy on here not too long ago that got his hardtopped S stolen as well. they smashed the glass and took the car. even if you're going to get a hardtop. a good alarm with proximity sensors, shock sensors, etc is good. i <3 my clifford. if a bird lands on the top the warning sound would be triggered. thing is even with an alarm... it won't stop them from taking it when it's unattended and you'd be surprised... a lot of people don't give a **** if they hear someone's alarm going off... they're not going to go run to the car and see what's going on and report it. that's where seatlocks, kill switches, backup sirens, etc come into play... all those things can be bypassed but if someone even gets into your car and you have two sirens to worry about, the killswitches (multiple), AND seatlocks... chances are your car won't be taken or not much maybe taken. also i heard this the other day on another forum... since most the big alarm names are all owned by DEI now (clifford, viper, prestige, etc)... all the wires are the same or similar. someone was suggesting changing them all to like a solid color because that way the thieves wouldn't know what to cut, etc. there's a lot you can do but u just gotta do A LOT. like JUST an alarm won't stop anything, or JUST seat locks, or JUST a kill switch.

Someone made this suggestion in the West. If no one has a two way paging system, get a wireless baby monitor At least you will be able to hear if anyone is in your car.
