Boulevard Audio in Hollywood on Hollywood Blvd. (Audio Logics sister shop)installed my clifford. They did a very nice job and helped me twice to adjust my proximity sensor.

I would suggest all of us covering our vin numbers and plates when we go to Fuds or Towers.
My military sticker covers the VIN quite nicely
I've decided to remove my plate whenever I go to an event, and not opening the hood due to the VIN on the firewall.

I've also already talked my RSX buddy into covering his VIN with a blank business card whenever he goes up around that way.

Vin I'll cover, License plate, I won't.

If they come in my garage or my house.....

They get a big surprize and I win...

We still haven't determined if all or most of the cars hit, had alarms or seatlocks

I think the guy in Hollywood said he had an alarm or some other guy that was targeted.

But then again it might be one of us doing the stealing....!!!
Sadly, I'm pretty sure this is the case. If you read the posts, see the pattern that develops, see when people pop up and when they don't, etc. . . it really seems like this is the case. I'm fairly positive there are some among us who are involved with the thefts. Just think about it, it makes common sense. If you are going to be a thief and make a living off of taking this stuff (or a side income or whatever), and you had a free board that was a resource to learn about local cars, where they go, what kind of protection they have, et cetera. . . . wouldn't you? I know it would suck and all for new people or people (like me) who can't make meets very often to prove ourselves . . . but my thought is the board should almost be private until you can prove your contributions. I'm not saying you should have to drive to fudruckers or something to be on the message board. However if you can't contribute to any mechanical threads, can't contribute to any big group event threads, don't ever show any interest in going to a tech day, don't show any interest in chiming in when people have questions, et cetera . . . but then you all of a sudden post about seats or what not . . . its just suspicious.

For the record to answer Mitch's first question, when my seats were stolen I did not have an alarm, just the factory keyless entry. Now I have a clifford alarm with proximity sensor and two way pager that was installed by one of our s2ki members. I have relocated the alarm kill button. I have lo-jack. I have my own custom electrified seat bolts (I will not get into detail about this . . . we have even pattened the idea, however its very difficult to make sure you don't electrify the whole rail or accidently shock yourself), and at my current location I have myself and two big ass guys watching the car within 50 feet of where its parked. I don't think I can get much more than that. I've debated the seat locks. If they cut a whole in my top and start vandalizing . . . I'm undecided if I still want the seats locked down or not. I will probably get them though (or make our own) since I park with the top down a lot just to keep the slashing probability down.

What started as a joke over a few beers turned into a side project and now we have a proto-type and a patened going. The only problem is the legalities. If the thief has a pacemaker or something we might put him into cardiac arrest, lol. In our messed up world some PI attorney would probably take his case, lol.

Once upon a time, I had considered a tear gas canister wired into the alarm. If the siren when off for more than 3 seconds, the can would go off.

now you know why my car doesn't ever false . The problem was the effect the gas might have on the interior, so I never went through with it

When I installed alarms for a living, I told all my convertable clients to leave the doors unlocked in the hopes a crook would open the door and set off the alarm, instead of cutting the top and setting off the alarm.

I kinka like the electrified idea.

I have another idea that could be intersting and non lethal, but I won't talk about those things in forums

Mitch
