Default The Elise driving Xperience

Some time ago, I asked for some help from the locals (u guys) in regard to getting my brother in law an exotic for his B-day, I settled for the Elise (cheaper rental + always wanted to drive one myself to compare to my S). Here we are, (I know the pics suck), getting acquainted with the rental toy.

Never driven an Elise before, but its a definate RAW experience. Our S's cant be compared to it. The non-refined, rough drive has nothing against our "luxury" track cars.

Here is my uneducated unbiased comparison:

Elise vs. S2000

Plastic feel "empty shell" feeling / Solid, well built interior
Uncomfortable passenger angle seating / Wide open passenger space
(my shoulder kept brushing up against the shoulder of the passenger / driver very uncomfortable)
Shifting was very mech, long throws / Like butter, short throws.

The handling was superb, curb hugging machine / Good, but unlike Elise

Please dont get me wrong, Im no Car & Driver, Import Tuner reviewer. Just giving you my personal uneducated "feel" for the Elise vs. S2000 driving experience.

Driving an Elise was great, but it definately changed my mind to upgrade to such vehicle in the future . Will look at other options when that time comes. The car looks though. Definate head turner.

Later...

Rob.

It's a nice honest review, how about the power overall difference, + how much more lightweight does the Elise feel comparing with our S2ks?

Hey Oscar. As far as Power??.. of the line from a stop, no bogging, just straight off the line power availability. The car is all fiberglass im guessing from what I could see, and its just damn light. As I described it, it fealt like an empty shell, or a "kit car" more than anything. Our S's feel so solid and well built. Its an incredible difference. After riding in the Elise for about 30 minutes, I was glad I was back in the S. I noticed things I took for granted... Like our ability to place our elbows in the middle console while shifting with our index and thumb. Nothing like that with the Elise . THanks for the comments.
