Default Getting valves adjusted

I'm looking to get my S2k's valves adjusted. I've read lots of threads by various owners that a valve adjustment may be required from the factory or after the break in period and I swear mine are noiser than the ones I've compared them to. Just for peace of mind and the fun of it, I'd like to get them adjusted and have the retainers inspected (bought the car with 2,000 miles and babied it since but just want to be sure). I'm fairly mechanical but never done a valve job and might not have all the required tools.

Any owners with experiance willing to help (of course I'll pay you) or can anyone recommend a shop that can do a good valve adjustment/retainer inspection? I'm hesitant to go to the dealer for this. I've seen decent prices from dealers (100-ish) but I'd prefer someone who I know will care about the car.

Thanks in advance and God Bless,

- J

Rick Case Honda, ask for Eddie or PM CoralDoc. CoralDoc hosts valve adjustment tech days from time to time. Maybe you can request one.

Well I decided I would let Eddie head this one up as well. I was hoping to be able to do it with someone where I could watch and be comfortable doing it on my own next time, but I figure I can do the next tech day for that.

Eddie has my car and Louie is going to inspect the valve clearance and see if it needs adjusting (seems kinda noisy for 8,000 miles) as well as take a look at the retainers while he is in there (last honda dealer I took the car to put several miles on it and had changed my radio stations, so who knows how they drove it). Eddie really is an awesome guy, I owe him a beer or something at the next meet I run into him at.

I might make a run to Rick Case to do mine. How much would this cost?

Are your valves overly noisy? Give me 24 hours and I'll let you know the result of mine and PM you with all the details.

I did it @ 15,000 miles and it made a hige difference in the noise I had. I even thought they took out the K&N I had dropped in the car a week before.

Well mine is getting inspected now. I'm assuming if its to far out of spec they will adjust accordingly. We'll see.
