Getting valves adjusted
What is required to "host" a tech day, do we just need a spot for cars or do we need lifts? I might be able to host one in the summer sometime if any mechanically inclined people want to help, I can volunteer a big back yard and a BBQ, lol.
Regardless they inspected my valves today and said they were within spec. Louie told me he didn't know I wanted the retainers inspected so he kept the car again overnight and will check them out in the morning. After my experiance at the other Honda dealer, I want it done for peace of mind (I swear my car was taken for a joy ride, lol).

If this is true, it would be the first out of all the cars we've done at CoralDoc's that didn't need something adjusted. We found that the valves tended to be near the loose end of the spec, and each car had 2-3 that were outside of the spec range. This was even the case with low-mileage cars like yours. I suspect you're dealing with a situation where someone did a cursory check and called it "good enough".
That sounds weird to me. I suspect that he used a .008 feeler gauge and found it was a "go" on each valve. Keep in mind, Honda only recommends a valve adjustment at 105k miles, so in the service department's eyes, you're crazy for even asking them to open it up.
FYI,
Intake spec is .008-.010
Exhaust spec is .010-.012
At our tech days, we set intake and exhaust to .008 and .010, respectively to maximize valve lift and duration.
Either the previous owner adjusted the valves down to .008, or someone didn't do a very good job measuring them. If the exhaust valves are really at .008, they need to be adjusted, that's too tight.
(In case you can't tell, I don't generally trust other people to work on my car)
