It's not just in our part of the site but also in the general for sale section. I see people jumping to buy parts from people who's 1st post is something for sale. If I was selling stolen parts I'd probably fork out the $15 bucks for a membership.

Please refer to my previous post.

Also keep in mind that 90% of people who own S2000s DO NOT BELONG TO THIS SITE.

So if they sold their S2000 or purchased something for their s2000 and no longer want it then they come to one of the largest s2000 communities to sell it.

I agree.
everytime I see a S on the road I ask myself I wonder if he /she's a member.
chances are probably NOT.

Honestly if I have spare parts from an old car or bike sitting in my garage.
I'll post it on Craigslist then on an appropriate site of enthusiasts
its all about marketing 101.
someone who wants to sell a book on aquariums and fishes is not gonna post it here.
they would look for an appropriate gathering sites for it.

Im not saying everyone doing their homework and selling their stuff is alway Legit. I think its up to the individual to figure out and question the seller to see if its kosher.

I always say what comes around goes around (KARMA). for both buyers and sellers.
if the buyer buys things knowing its stolen it'll come around.
if seller sells things thats stolen it'll come around to them too! one day

You guys havent been observing closely how these for sale parts pop up. I have seen at least 3 for sale threads come up in the last few weeks and either of our COs have locked them down within hours.

The thing is a person can be a member for a few weeks or months and all of a sudden, a whole crap load of parts start emerging either through them or a friend that has something. These are tough to stop because they have fulfilled the requirement of showing face.

The COs are doing their part in keeping our forum safe. Now its our turn to keep our cars safe.

If it got out that we were photographing our visitors to our meets, we would be the laughing stock of the Car Club World...Face it, if the Police cannot control our seat theft, who made us superheros where we can.
We just need to do our due dligence, and make the act of vandalism more difficult to accomplish.

Seat Locks and an alarm..

I read the post. Like I said this is much bigger than our little section. I also don't believe the owners of the site will strengthen the selling policies. Also the majority of people that modify their cars do belong to forums like this one. Consequently, the majority of people that never modify their car realistically wont have extra parts and wont end up in this forum.

My point exactly. People who come on here for the intent to sell... no harm no foul they just need to meet our loose requirements... attend a meet.

My point exactly. I never said that nothing was being done. Just making an observation. Which now seems to hold more water than ever.
