Insurance Question
Gan, we keep the same coverage as you: 100/300 and our deductibles are $250 & $500 for comprehensive & collision. I'm just worried that Progressive seems great in terms of the price now and then it'll jump the next time around. I don't want to have to shop around every 6 months or so.
I envy you guys! I have Allstate and I did claim once, now I'm suffering from it! I have two cars in one policy, the SE-R pip/pd and my other baby comprehensive, I pay $2100.00 for 6 months, $277.00 a month. I really need help. Any suggestions on how to lower it? I tried Geico and Progressive, they are more expensive, </= 300$. It is really disappointing.
I'll also recommend Mercury. Their rates are easily 10-15% lower than any other company each time I've checked rates. I used to be with AIG until they raised rates on me about 4 years ago.
I don't know if you can call Mercury directly, so I'll also recommend my independent insurance agent who found good homeowner's and flood insurance for me too - Bruening Insurance (954) 473-1406. They're located in Plantation.

The good thing about State Farm (I'm with their Fire and Mutual division which is where they put their best customers) for me is the fact that I've been with the, since 1983 so I've got a guaranteed "no cancellation" policy. I don't care if they have to replace my top ten times.
As for Progressive, the good thing about them is they offer gap insurance which State Farm DOESN'T (unless they are the financer) IOW, Progressive will cover the difference between the WORTH of your car and the actual PAYOFF, even on a lien (assuming theft or total loss). Progressive also offers 24-hr claim service...they'll have a rep with a van hook up with you at 3 in the morning if that's what it takes. Good company, I steered my girl towards them.
Highly recommended.
