Default Need Help Please..Update

Just checking if anyone had a steering removal tool for our car. I looked everywhere and couldn't find one that fit. If someone has one or knows a place where to do it, please advise. I currently have everything removed except for the bolt in the middle.

Thanks
Happy new Year

Well was able to take off the steering wheel just with my own force but encounter another problem. When reinstalling everything back, everything works except for airbag sensor. On the speedometer, it has the srs lit up. I checked the connections and it seems to be connected properly.

Its a cheap tool - go to any automotive store and get one. Just make sure the bolts you use fit properly.

If the airbag sensor remains non-functional, the SRS light will stay on no matter what.

However, even if you have fixed the fault, once tripped the SRS light will remain on until it is reset manually. There is a way to do it with a special tool and a specific sequence of turning the ignition on and off combined with connecting/disconnecting the tool. It was posted on this site a while ago, so you may be able to find it with search or by looking in the Under the Hood FAQs.

It is possible to do this with just a jumper wire, but is much easier with the special tool.

Josh is right, if the car was turned on and the sensor was not connected, the light will stay on. Mine was on for 8 months. I just had the dealer reset the computer when I took it in for service.

I would like to know more about the special tool and the thread on reseting the computer. If you track that stuff down, please share with the group.

Happy New Year

Can't you just pull out the fuse for the computer to reset the ECU?

No. The SRS system has a battery backup that will not allow it to be reset this way.

I found one of the threads on how to reset the SRS light - here it is.

did you turn the key on with oneof the airbags disconected???

if so, that's what caused it. I doubt you did anything to the cable. the way to check is to reset the ecu and see if the light comes back on

The only thing I did when removing the steering wheel was behind the steering wheel, there was a srs lable with an up arrow pointing how it is suppose to be. I just made sure it was pointing up. Is that ok, Im going to get the instructions to reset the srs light since it might just be that. But just in case its broken, would I notice something different. Like when turning the steering wheel or turning the steering wheel with the car off or something. Thanks
