PCA AutoX @ BB&T tomorrow
I just checked the roster, and I see 5 S2000s registered on the entry list for tomorrow's autoX. Anyone from here? I'm driving the Cayman tomorrow, Christy is driving our s2k.

We had 4 S2000s at the event. Two red, two silvers. I didn't get a chance to meet the other owners, as I ended up running the timing computer for a good chunk of the day.
I had 8 runs in the Cayman. I spun once in the morning, once in the afternoon. Autox is gloriously fun when you know you're about to replace your rear tires, lol. My first lap was a 47.7, so I set 45 flat as my goal for the day. I eventually got a few high 45s, with a best of 45.751. Then I jumped in the s2000 for one run, and laid down a 45.085 without even pushing it.
Yes, that's a 450+hp turbo Cayman with all the performance options (LSD, active susp, etc.) vs. an S2000 with an exhaust and coilovers (no power mods). The S2000 was easily faster on the autox course.
Here's what it boils down to. The Cayman is a beast, but it has a tendency to understeer when you enter a slow corner too hot (not much front camber with the stock suspension). Once you get into a turn, it's super ease to rotate with the throttle (PSM off). But it's hard to put all that power down, so I felt like I was skating a lot. The course completely negates the Cayman's power advantage. The S2000 is just cool and composed. It's probably 250 lbs lighter, it sits lower, has a better center of gravity, and felt more neutral overall. I'm certain I could have gone faster if I had multiple runs in.

Totally friggin' awesome.
I really wish I'd started doing autoX and track events 10 years earlier. But back then I always worried about the "what ifs", and was scared of the possible expense if something broke. I've finally reached a point where I don't have to worry too much about things like that.
(the toda is peanuts compared to FI, lol)
