Powerlock Pros and Cons?
Hey everyone, I'm thinking of buying the Powerlock system for the car prior to my move to Miami and was wondering if any local members have it installed or know of anyone with it? I'm in on the seat locks group buy but figure an alarm is only as good as the time it takes to hot wire the car. Also, any recommendations for the best place to have it installed if I wait until I get down there? thanks!

Hmm Powerlock? Is this a brand name. Sorry yes I am the idiot that doesn't know what powerlock is other than powerlocks that locks the doors. Please feel free to amuse my stupidity.
I found out about it by using the search engine for ALARM and there are a few members (past, present?) who installed it with great results. I figure any alarm is basically a noise-maker for the duration it takes to disarm it, lojack won't help me if the car is stolen in my sleep and chopped by sunrise. A car that cannot be hot-wired makes it pretty darn inconvenient to steal.
ANYTHING can be taken but I'm hedging a bet that once inside, after a few attempts, they'll move on. I'd rather come back to a cut top than an empty parking space.

Mav, hit that link above if you haven't already. They'll pay your deductible if your car is hot-wired, assuming of course if it's ever recovered. I spent about an hour running it across several search engines and it seems those who purchased it are quite happy with the protection. It runs about $160-170 to purchase. Install is fairly simple. Hit this link for an interesting read on a stolen Type R
