First and foremost, id like to state that im a dedicated playstation gamer.
I picked up my xbox nearly 2 years after it had come out. Had no need for it.

I am probably one of the biggest undercover gamers youd ever meet. Im friends with some pretty hardcore gamers myself. (some of those sleep 3 days to get a ps3 people). Ive been gaming since nintendo, and between me and my younger bro, we play most every title that comes out.

So heres my oppinion on the current console war...

Fact is simple. I KNOW the ps3 is the better hardware. Theres no question to that in my head. The problem is now titles from 3rd party companies. Alot of sonys bread and butter has jumped ship and gone multi-console. This is where they are losing out.

GTA was a huge game that brought the random gamer to the PS. With GTA going multi console the question becomes simple for THAT type of gamer.

"Do i want to REALLY spend an extra 100 bucks to play this game." The answer is a resounding no.

You wanna know why i think Wii's are sold out all over the place. Its not due to there innovative game play, although it has a good amount to do with it. I think its cause there affordable to the average gamer. It has a niche, titles that you can ONLY get on the wii, and its affordable. The average gamer is getting something he cant get anywhere else for a good price.

When the average gamer walked up to pick a console to play madden, Do you think he was acctually gonna pony up the extra hundred bucks to play the same game on the ps3? Perhaps it looks better, runs smoother, or the console never freezes (damn red circle of death)... The average gamer doesnt care about that stuff. He doesnt give a crap its got a blue ray. All he knows is he can play the big names on this system.

I have games that will make me buy a ps3, eventually. Tekken, GT, and metal gear come to mind. Do those games have the follwoing that xbox's exclusive's have? No chance.

GT... GT HD should of been available at launch. How is the pollished version of a game thats 3 years old NOT out yet?!

PS, at the moment, only serves the hardcore. ""RFOM is an amazing game.." No... its an alright game with a run of the mill story. Right now though, its all youve got so your making it seem like its halo. ha!


So in closing. Sony made a huge mistake in my oppinion with the pricing. The recent price drop shows they are aware of the fact. Thing is with consoles. You only get one shot at the intial sales. A good percentage of gamers will only ever pick up ONE of the big two consoles. With xbox already having the lead with the earlier sales, and then sony coming out thinking there shiny plastic was worth..what was it 200 dollars more then the xbox at the time.. they dug there own grave.

Software will make the thing WORTH purchasing to SOME, but they've already lost the average gamer. SO in my oppinion, the wars over. xbox wins. Least till next time.
