Glad to here you're ok, sorry to hear about Ruby. I hope the shoulder heals fast. Best of luck with Scarlet. I look forward to seeing you around

Might the rotor failed prior to impact? Causing loss of control and car upgrade....

I thought about that to, but according to the body shop owner the breakage pattern is consistent with impact damage. Also, there wasn't any damage to the left rear caliper caliper. I would have expected that if the rotor jammed against it after a break.

Well Doc,
As I told you in FM, I'm sorry to see Ruby go, but I'll bet it's nice having the new car smells in a nearly identical ride (almost like reincarnation). I hope Scarlet is as good to you as Ruby was.

...and I hope you find the cause of the spin. Please keep us posted.

I hope you at least get to try her out on the track/ AX someday (even if it's on street tires) so you can compare the performance of the two cars. While you're at it, you can tell me what the difference is between the '00, '03 and my '02.

I drove an '00 and also an '02 at Roebling road yesterday. Both felt similar with the '00 being a bit more tail happy. But, that might have more to do with alignment than anything else.

Airsport, where exactly is the "armpit of FL"? Interesting description - doesn't exactly make me want to visit there. ha-ha!

Hey Josh - Just caught this thread now. Sorry 'bout the loss. I guess you didn't catch it on video - and airsport wasn't around with Doom-cam.

I spun at Moroso on the slow right hander coming out of the S turn in the back straight. I think you were there that day. Anyway, I've watched my video at least 200 times. I had the same speed and line as always, I think I was just too quick on the gas.

What the video did show me was several errors I made trying to correct. That 5 seconds of video helped me a ton by showing simple oversteer leading to rapid-fire over-reactions and over-corrections. I really recommend a camera mount (shameless plug for Z-tec) for anyone autocrossing or tracking their car.

Good luck with scarlet. Go easy on her, abuse the Miata.
