Aaron, you need to get a couple of associates working under you so you can take off when you want.

My wife's in the same boat you are. I'm taking off half of December, but she needs to get her billable hours, so she's only taking a few days.

BTW, you still owe me a ride in that beast of a car.....

Jeff-I talked to my friend who is a Mechanic at a Ford dealership in Chicago and he told me that the fluids need to be changed every 30,000 Miles or 5 years even when you have low milage because it builds up humidity in the system. My car is a 2000 and it has right now 19,000 miles on it. I will change the fluids any way to be safe. I think once a year it's bit much.

I purchased the car in September '05 with 16,000 on it, so I'm not so familiar with it yet. Thanks for the advise!

Mine's a 2002 with <18k on the odometer. This will be my 6th oil change, the 3rd tranny/diff fluid change, and the valves have been adjusted twice. Overmaintained......probably. But I do all of the work myself and the costs are almost negligible.

You'll find that the shifter loses its smooth feel as the fluid ages. To combat this, many s2k owners would recommend changing it annually, some of the track guys do it even more frequently. The diff fluid could certainly go longer, provided you don't abuse it, but it's cheap insurance, IMO. Plus, each time you change it, you get to inspect the slurry buildup on the drain plug. If you see metal shavings, you know the ring/pinion gears are getting eaten up. (If you car hasn't been done yet, just wait till you see the gunk that comes out).

I figure, since the car's already up on jackstands, why not just change everything? It costs me all of $8 to change the tranny fluid, and another $8-9 to do the diff.

May have to work but will be there if I don't. I'll probably just come to help and bring some Skip Barber in car entertainment in the form of DVD =)
