warranty and muffler
Just wondering how the local dealerships are. I was thinking about changing out my stock mufflers with some magnaflow mufflers but I have the 100 mile powertrain warranyt with honda. MY car is stock as we speak. I just wanted to change up the sound a little bit with the exhaust system. Do you think local dealerships would give me a problem if something broke. Ive dealt with braham before and they would try to deny you for anything. I heard rick case works with you but has anyone ever experienced a problem with your exhaust. And just to put into detail. I have the stock piping without resonator. so basically i would be chopping off the old mufflers and replacing them.. Thanks for your help
Rick Case won't hassle you about having an aftermarket exhaust system but if you have the HondaCare extended warranty contract, thats a different story. I heard HondaCare will deny and void the contract if you even change the lugnuts.
HondaCare is not a warranty by law, its a contract so they can do whatever they want to.
The Magnuson Moss Warranty Act states that legally, a vehicle manufacturer cannot void the warranty on a vehicle due to an aftermarket part unless they can prove that the aftermarket part caused or contributed to the failure in the vehicle.
However because HondaCare is a contract, the Magnuson Moss Warranty Act does not apply.
I could be wrong but this is what I've been told. Also if you read your HondaCare contract and the fineprint, it states that any aftermarket modification will result in voiding the contract.

I've heard of HondaCare being voided because the person installed an aftermarket head unit and his a/c went out. So to answer your question, yes anything aftermarket that is installed on your car can result in your contract being voided.
On the regular 36 month / 36,000 miles factory warranty, no they cannot void or deny warranty service unless they can prove that the failure was directly caused by the aftermarket part.
