This is pretty much old news.

Honda feels its better to inform the customer via its dealer or corporate networks.

Honda built their reputation, in part, by substantial use of the secret warranty. I don't think they're quite ready for an internet-informed buying public. Doesn't seem to have hurt them yet though. Of course, they have every right to make this business choice. IMHO, pretty slimey though.
