Lesson Learned

This is unedited material, typed straight from my head.

I did something that was definitely punishable by law, Sunday morning at around 1 am (or Saturday night). I feel completely embarassed, ashamed, extremely stupid as well. See, its not only that I did something punishable by law, I was caught! One of the reasons Im writing this, is a lot of people saw this, a lot of people drove by me and took pictures/videos. Those from the area will probably hear about it anyways, how often do you see an S2000 ready to be towed away? Another reason I write this, is to in hopes reach the police officer that had to deal with me, and really let him know I am grateful for the outcome. I have learned a huge lesson tonight, and I WILL change my driving habits. No more fooling around in my car AT ALL on city streets. There is way too much to risk, and it is NOT worth it. **** THAT, is all that is running through my head.

Ok, so what happened? Ill explain that now. I met up with my friend to see her, met at Woodbine and 16th parking lot. She left her car there, then we went driving around in my S2. When I got back to the parking lot, I was in the mood I guess to show off the car and my driving to her. See what kind of drifting/donuts I can pull off. I started off by going about 30 km/h and trying to get weight transfer working for me, tapping the break to shift the weight forward so I could get the back out. I did that mostly unsuccessfully anyways, at one point getting close to where her car was, just as I broke it loose a bit, so I pulled off. I finally got to an open space again, and after failing on the previous attempts I decided to just go all power, pedal down. The car did the usual really quick spin, and stopped the spin momentum almost. I was able to, with some throttle and steering, keep it going. I actually got the car to do 4 donuts in a row, where each circle left on the ground was no less than 1 foot away. I was so proud of myself! Finally did a donut where the car had proper momentum, 4 donuts, the center of the circles moved not even 2 feet, smoke all around the car. How much better can this drive get! BOOM, thats when it happened.

Out of nowhere, I saw the lights flashing, police car pulled up right beside me. Officer gets out, gets right up to my car and tells me to get out right away! Me and my passenger. Completely fumbled with my drivers license, ownership and insurance, my heart was absolutely racing. I was caught! He took my keys to my car as well. He had then announced to me, that I was under arrest, and my car was now gone! Right then and there, I literally felt like my life was over. I wanted to die, or even run away, pretend this wasnt happening. But it was! I was literally shaking all over. He had told me to sit down on the ground, and me and my friend did just that. I had been searched, pockets, everything. He looked for drugs on me, searched my car completely as well. Still in disbelief that I was under arrest, going to jail and losing my most prized possession, I sat there just waiting. My friend had been allowed to go home in her car, which was actually lucky for me. Eventually I ended up sitting beside the police cruiser. During this whole time, there were a bunch of guys in their cars on the other side of the parking lot watching. There were people taking pictures of me, taking video, this was by far one of the most embarassing times of my life. People had come into the parking lot over and over and over to just see what happened. This is one of the reasons I write this.

After being there for an hour, finally the officer opened his window and we had a very small chat. The original charges were very steep, including criminal offences. Now, keep in mind I was very obedient to every word he had said. I have a completely clean record of no crashes, no speeding tickets, no driving violation tickets, no parking tickets even! He had said he would drop the charges down to a trespassing ticket of 60 dollars! I am extremely grateful for this. I have been to tears about this whole situation, its no joke. I write this experiance, for everyone to just know as well, it can happen. To hopefully have this in the back of their head the next time they try stuff. For those of you who actually want to see the tire marks, they are still there I can guarantee. Will be for a few days. They are right beside the Tim Hortons drive through, the east side of it. Live and learn eh.

If anyone knows the officer, please thank him for me. This is something that would most definitely have ruined my life, and everything I dreamed of. I am most deeply grateful for his decision. He is about a 30 year old, black, bald man. Works for the York Regional Police. Please let him know I am grateful, and I wont be screwing around with my car anymore.

Thanks for reading, for those who finished the whole story.

First Off, What were you thinking doing donuts in a parking lot!? Alot of different car groups and regulars hang out there. Now your definitely gonna be on various forums. Not only that, I just hope this doesn't bring the heat on for all s2000 owners in York Region. For all you new owners, please be Considerate and thoughtful. We all represent s2ki in SO. Its not that hard for YRP to just start lurking our thread for meets and cruises to give us a hard time because of this incident.

Here a video for reference that took place at Kennedy Commons a while back.

To OP, it's ok man no one is perfect in this life that we're living but hopefully you'll know better and think twice about everything you do from here on now. Don't be embarassed because if you were to know half of the crazy things people on this board have done in their life time you would soon realize that doing a few donuts isn't all that bad but hopefully next time if you want to do something similar you'd do it in a enclosed area free of potentially harming others. Just treat this incident as a mistake and learn from it. Apply this situation to any other type of situation that you may come across so that you don't ever do something without thinking twice about it. If you know that chances are that what you're doing is wrong, then chances are they are wrong.

but seriously, at this thread. What the F were you thinking? of all places to do some donuts and times to do them you pick like the worst of both to show off for a girl?

I'll stop poking fun now but I really hope you've learned your lesson and you're not just saying that you have.

I think everyone is allowed 1 f up in the S. Anymore than that and you are giving the rest of us s2k drivers a bad rapport and you gotta turn in the keys.

A few years ago on this website there was a news article of a s2k going like 220km-240km/hr on the gardiner... anyone else remember that? OP, you don't want to be remembered as the guy that did something dumb. Here's to a new you bro

Now I'm not saying this to upset anyone here because I don't really know any of you except for a select few, but the older the s2000 gets the more affordable it becomes for younger drivers. With younger drivers, more often than not, comes stupid shit, and trust me I've done more than my share.

Take it as a lesson learned, so now go spend the money you would have had to pay for the ticket and get some track time and tires

I got pulled over for doing a little drift when i got the car. The cop was seriousbut pretty cool about it and let me go, but deffinately learned to not do that kind of stuff on the street.

One question, did the cop find the secret compartmet when he searched the car? :-D
