So basically, if you dont fight it your getting a $190 fine plus the points.

If you do fight it your paying $700 to avoid the points, or $300 to try to avoid the points.

Thus, avoiding the points is considered to be worth $400.

What happens if you walk scott-free? Im assuming you pay the $500, but will they try for that, or just say "its his first ticket. He will pay the fine, but no points". Are they even going to try to get you off totally, or are they defaulting to the fine without points?

I would say that the $400 may be worth not having the points on your record, but if your not going to loose additional points, then what are you avoiding? You will still have the ticket, which MAY still be for running a red. Insurance companies may not care if you lost points or not if that still shows on your record.

I would get X-Copper to re-evaluate the scenario's. Either get it totally off of your record, or reduced to a much lesser offence (I wouldnt know which one). It sounds to me like you have lots of points left since this was your first ticket, so who cares if you avoid "the points". You want to avoid what the offence will do to your insurance (which may be nothing for the first ticket).

I donno. Try an online quote to see what it shows. I would say that you should definately fight it, but your decision should more be should I go with X-copper or not.
