as long as they all go out your fine dude, dont worry.
It basically does a 10 sec check of the system and if all clear it shuts off any lights.
I got my S 3 weeks agos and i was really paranoid about little things too. Enjoy, and congrats

It does do a check, but the maint light blinking is not that.

I don't want to freak you out, but I can't see why it would be blinking on a brand new car.

what this light does is blink at about ( man I don't know these numbers ) 6000 km..at 8000 km it stays on steady.

What it is telling you is that you need scheduled maintence, oil changes and such.

How many KM are on your car?

to stop it from flashing, put the key in the ignition, press and hold the reset button on the dash, and turn the key to the "on" posistion. Hold it for about 20 seconds. The steps are also in the owners manual.

but I would be really wondering why that light is flashing on a new car?????

Just yell at it really really loud and it will turn off.

If you look in your manual it will tell you how to reset it, for those who do their own maintenance

i've also found that any non transparent/translucent tape is also very, VERY effective...

from what it sounds like, you're due for an oil change (or service), that's all...
