Phone scam?
So get this, I just got a call on my cell. The call began kinda weird as I hear tv / people yapping in the background and the person's voice was really quiet but then it got louder (so I sense speakerphone or crappy headset, whatever).
Woman tells me that I just won a free Motorola V220 from Rogers and that I can have it for free w/ a monthly of $20 / month (100 day time, unlimited weekends and evenings) and that I also win a second phone and the bill for that would be $15 / month. (So not much of a prize to me considering that's what the stores are pushing these days and that phone I can get for free anyways - to me this already sounds like a scam).
Took me forever to understand wtf she's trying to say w/ that thick accent of sorts but the whole time she keeps wanting to refer me to a "verification officer" over the phone for me to surrender my ID (they even said credit card was ok) so I can claim my prize.
I've never nor will I ever give any ID over the phone like that, this just reeks of attempted identify theft.
Besides, it's a shit phone anyways, not much of a prize at all.
What do you guys think? Is there actually some sort of "give a way" going on w/ Rogers Wireless right now?

I hate Rogers for doing these GARBAGE phone solicitations. My plan is almost up. I got a phone solicitation from them about a month ago. I patiently waited for her to go through her whole schpeel and then politely said:
"My contract is up very soon. I depise telephone sales and the fact that you just invaded my privacy. Your phone call just guaranteed that Rogers will lose me as a customer when the contract is up. Good-bye."

no its not a scam sounds like you got a call from the telemarketing company i used to work for........ they just make it seem like u won something but the fact is its a deal anyone can pretty much get..... if you go to any rogers store and ask for the deal the lady told u about, u can get it....... she kept trying to transfer u to the verification officer so that she could get a sale LOL ! ....... i used to be a verification officer hahahah
