No worries bro..the ITR was not stock..Either Nitrous or Forced Induction. A Stock ITR cannot take an S2k in a rolling race. Take these numbers into consideration too.
ITR 1/4mile.... ~High 14's
S2K 1/4mile.... ~High 13 to Low 14's
I beat a stock ITR with my Jetta Diesel for fuk sakes
Dont feel bad...I got beat by a 89 Civic CX hatchback, 13inch rusty wheels and an old man driver with a big mustache. Looked like that guy from "My Classic Car" . Man I was mad.....I later found out that it was a turboed HB Civic with a B18 TUrbo
So now I dont feel bad anymore

First off, are you sure it was bone stock? Secondly, when you guys decided to run, what RPM were you at? The Type-R's are no slouches and if you're not in your powerband, you could be seeing tailights...
There's not a big difference between the itr and s2k. If you punch it a second too late, you simply don't have the power to catch up to a stock itr. It is a pretty fast car and it's geared so perfectly. So, don't feel too bad...
Darren, you were not in VTEC??
....that is what happened. The ITR was already all spun up...You gotta keep that engine above 6000rpms at ALL times. Youll never know when you will need it in an Emergency.
