I thought this thing could tow 5000lbs....
Those who know, do not tow more than ~75% of what a vehicle is rated for.
At 3,750 pounds total if the trailer weighs 750 to 1,000 that is 3,000 to 2,750 pounds for the boat, or should I say dingy?

enough to tow an S??
9,500 X 75% = 7,125 pounds.
That is more than enough, and will even allow me to go to a nice enclosed trailer someday.

I don't know Doug, they rated the Ridgeline at 5000lb with 4 people, full tank of gas and 150lb of cargo.
Most manufacturers rate max towing based on 1/2 tank of gas, driver only, and no cargo.
I think you could safely bump it up to 85% of full tow and not have a problem.
People have already towed cars on double axle trailers with it and said it towed them great.
I've checked it out at the dealer several times, but don't have time for a test drive for another couple of weeks.
The question is: Green or Black?

Personally I wouldn't buy a Honda to tow anything. Their slushboxes are fragile enough as it is. If you toast your gearbox towing a boat, the assho-le dealership will probably accuse you of racing your Ridgeline.

thanks guys...some good opionins on the Ridgeline....Doug I'd have to agree that I wonder what Honda designers were thinking aobut not haveing a locking mechanism on the back tailgate. Maybe they just forgot about it.
I'd like to take one for a test drive.
