Default Suggestion for Alarm and Installer

Hi all,

Just wondering what alarm system you guys have on your S? In addition, the shop that installed it for you.

If you don't mind me asking, how much did you pay for yours

I'm currently looking at the Compustar Pro BL2WFM-A with dual zone proximity sensor from Level12.ca. Any feedback from this shop. I'm in communication with Shawn from Level12.ca.

Thanks!

Eric

I have the Viper 5901 with a few other goodies (ex. proxy sensor).

I paid close to $1,000 for the install, the actual alarm cost me around $350 i think?

Reason it cost so much is b/c of the amount of time put into making sure there is no where near an easy way to disable my alarm. I dont think my car will ever be as naked as it was when these guys were putting it in lol.

Id prefer not to say where it was installed tho.

sorry to say, but that is ridiculous amount for an alarm install, even if they tore the vehicle down to install it specially

Thanks for the info.

Did you also install a backup battery for the siren? It is recommended by the installer

yes i did get the secondary battery put in, but not a secondary siren. And i know $1000 is a lot but trust me, there was a lot of time and work done, they spent 2 days on my car. Overkill? maybe, but i didnt spend ~$50,000 on a car for it to be stolen or vandalised with ease.

There was a group buy in the brewing, but not enough interest.
However, I went to John at Auto Links and he was excellent along with his work.
2 way paging alarm only, battery backup with siren, proximity sensor.

I went with the Zenesis ZN-502 with a proxy sensor and back up battery. The Z-pass is a pretty nice touch over the other conventional alarms.

I'd recommend CompuSTAR 200%. Great system and great setup, never had any issues, even with my proximity sensor.

unless you have ton of aftermarket parts, alarm system is pointless...
if your car gets stolen, you don't want it back.
just get money from insurance and buy new car.
