Default Titanium Spoon knob failed on first drive to the gas station

Car has not been driven since December. Took the car to get gas and my Spoon shift knob snapped...and then kept on snapping on each shift. The thing is toast. It looks exactly like the pictures of the broken knobs that popped up last Nov/Dec.

Speedstar, do I have to handle warranty refunds/replacements through AJ Racing or can I bring it back to you. I'm only interested in a replacement if the design has been changed; otherwise, it looks like it will probably just break again.

I can't post pics because my camera doesn't work anymore. You can see exactly what happened if you do a search for this. It looks exactly the same.

Mine lasted about a month, then threads started snapping inside the knob. You can tell there is some break-age on the outside. I can take pictures.

SAIYAJIN - I'm with you on the replacement. I cannot see how this knob will last long.

I've driven for several hours with mine and so far no problems. How hard do you guys crank the shift lever?

Anyways, yes I am a bit concerned about it, but am running it until it breaks. I am sure Speedstar will stand behind the product.

I am astonished! How does something like this snap its threads?
I've run the Voodoo Aluminum and now the Rick's (Voodoo) Ti knob for almost a year, through hot and "brass monkey" freezing cold and it is SOLID. PLUS, I have the added S/C induced vibration coming through the stick. Are those Spoon threads made of clay?

xviper,

The threaded part is only about 3/4 of 1 cm long. It is attached by 4 welds at the bottom only. This is apparently not enough support to withstand even the gentlest shifts. I literally drove to the gas station (about 300M from my house) and it started snapping

I've been told that this happens when you over torque the knob down, but how the hell were we supposed to know that - the friggin' instructions were in Japanese!
