Well, it appears that in cylinder #3, the exhaust valves stuck open and kissed the piston, resulting in a snapped rod, and a holy block...
Now, the curious thing is, why only the two valves? Typically in an over-rev situation, there would be scarring on more than one piston and definitely more than one set of valves... it sort of shows that this failure was not a mis-shift or over-rev situation (which is true BTW - the car was not over-revved and I did not ever mis-shift).
Honda Canada is sending out a tech today to investigate. I am VERY curious as to what caused the failure! Any ideas? Taylor?
Peace...

Rahul: Glad to hear they're covering it...
Yeah in an overrev situation you end up with bent valves. It's usually pretty obvious to the mechanic as soon as the head is cracked (open.. to look at).
My only suggestion would be Oil starvation. Anything else would just be a freak accident. What's your intake situation like on your car? Anything non-OE? Could be a really poor filter, maybe sucked something up and through. Course I'm just guessing.

Nope - checked that. Filter is intact.
It's puzzling to say the least. I can only thing a defective rod. Or possibly that particular rod was weaker than the other 3. Who's to say what the quality of the fuel is in no-where land, Penn.
Peace.

what you REALLY need, IS A NEW CAR!!!!!!!
do you really think these guys can re & re a motor on an S2000????
1. this from the same guys that rotated my non-rotatable wheels
2. this from the same guys that can't fix a simple window relay for the 8th (or is it 9th) time
3. this from the same guys that told me my brakes were unsafe due to excess wear when all that was required was a bleed - i have ANOTHER 40K worth of brakes left
4. this from the same guys that needed 6 goddamn days to do a clutch TSB
5. this from the same guys that needed a week to do the tranny TSB
6. this from the same guys that butchered YOUR car by your own admission
rahul, cut your losses and call it a day.....
i really hope they fix it to your satisfaction, but i just don't see it happening....do you??????
