10W30 only. If I drove the car in the winter, I would put in 5W30 because it is thinner. No way I would run thinner oil in the summer. Now just need to decide if I am going to put 5W30 into the car during the winter storage months so that it starts easier....Xviper do you have an opinion on this? I am leaning towards staying 10W30 because it will be in the garage and it does not get as cold as Calgary here, but I welcome your opinion.

If it's synthetic or semi-synthetic go with 10w30. 10w30 synthetics have very similar cold pour points of 5w30. If it's dino juice, then you would have to compare those pour points for the particular oil.

My engine is too young for synthetic yet, so will still be on dino oil. I just do not think it will get cold enough in the garage to matter. On those really cold days, I could just not start the car and wait for a warmer day...dunno yet...

Check out this page and compare the various pour points. http://www.vtr.org/maintain/oil-overview.html
Mobil 1 pour points are the same for the 5w and 10w. Some synthetic pour points are twice as low as dino juice!

Matrix, the first winter I had the car, it was new so I ran the factory fill oil. I never had problems starting the car but when it was parked outside on a night shift, it was always pluged in. The second winter, of course, I had the syn. 5W30. If you are using dino oil but are parking in the garage, you'll be OK with the recommended oil. When I did my freezer tests, dino 10W30 started to pour like honey beginning at about -18*C. Syn. 10W30 was never affected down to -24*C. My freezer couldn't go colder than this.

I have 12,100 km's, I got my car after you got yours and mine has been in Vermont for the past two weeks, not being driven!
I used the Honda oil for the first change at about 4,000 miles and then I used Penzoil when I changed it at about 7,000 miles. I have always used 10W - 30 and will continue to do so.
