I was just going to buy a 37" lcd. The Viewsonic from costco is 900 but then I got onto the projector idea.

It's only for my bedroom so it's not going to get overly used too much. But I still don't want some piece of crap.
i would look at the dell too.

their 37" is an absolute incredible set.

pricier than 900 though....

And to those who believe that my 50-500 is perverse, you should see it with my 1.4x TC on it!

so 1.4x crop. 1.4x TC at 500mm is about 1000mm!!!!

Dave, what body did you get?

on the LCD front, the viewsonic is a great deal but the cabinet (frame) looks like ass. The Sharp at costco looks good if you're okay with 1080i.

I picked up a D80. I also have the Nikon 18-200mm VR with it.

sweet.... nice to know there's a bigma with a nikon mount just around the corner.

I had my 70-300 at the airshow last year and it was a little short on range. 500 would be nice. You should grab some shots of the kite boarders one day.

if you put the 1.4x teleconverter with the 50-500.. that would be around f8 at the biggest? ... that's only useful in broad daylight.... but i guess that's when the bikinis are out

Yeah - it has to be pretty bright with the TC, but at 7:30PM and proper light direction, Im able to shoot at 1500msec at 500mm with f11ish if I bump the ISO up even just slightly. If I want to bump it alot, that will help, alot. So with the TC, I should have some room if I open up the aperture more.

The main thing I find is just to make sure the tgt isnt backlit.
