I'm thinking of taking my lady to Hawaii as a late christmas present. Anyone been? Good idea/bad idea?
If you've never been, I would recommend it.
I highly recommend going whale watching - really a great experience. Also rent yourself a 4x4 and drive around the island - TONS to see. Pack a picnic as there are some incredible spots to just relax at. You can also get a cassette tape that guides you some places off the main roads - also very good.
We are actually thinking about going back....

Vacation? What's that???
I typicaly never go away, well farther than I can drive... I always see that vacation money as being better spent on the house or the toys, and I don't have extra cash laying around. If I did I'm sure I would go to some tropical island where the ladies have an asian influence.
My winter is being spent this way
- breezeway remodel
- dining room remodel
And in all honesty, any day I can just stay home and hang out at the house is just fine with me.
And I do know there are a few weekend trips planned, a trip to Chicago in the Titan, a trip to the TO AutoShow in the Titan, and maybe, just maybe a one-way drive back from Colorado in a Mazda pickup- I might fly out there to help my mephew drive back to the east coast as he is graduating.
I actually really enjoy winter as it puts my life into another phase...

Doug I hear ya.. but sometimes you just have to get away from the BS.
I'm working on the basement. The demo work is usually the best until the cleanup part

The project I'm on for the next couple of weeks is the breezeway. I have a carpenter coming in on Saturdays to help with the rough construction and setting the sliding glass door, new storm door and new window, but after that is done I can do all the exterior siding and interior knotty pine myself. So in the evenings right now I can be found in the breezeway with a beer and a prybar, all the old siding has to come down so new walls can go up, and oh what a mess...

we're going there for new years!
Now that we know your house will be empty, I guess the question of where the TO Party will be held is answered...
