Ans2k if you want to return it please do, based on what you are telling me, it think its either a bad plate, which I will gladly replace, or something with your car, since none of my other customers has had this problem.

Red ones are painted wrinkle black, it is very similar to the stock valve cover paint.

The aluminum versions are made from .050 inch thick 5052 Aluminum. Stainless are made from .036 thick 304 stainless steel
