Rob is correct. There is a feel or knack to it. The process itself isn't rocket science but there are things I learned and saw that now that I know would make things easier but without knowing them it would be much tougher. I would definitely suggest having someone that has done many do it for you. I don't even feel comfortable telling people how to do it because of the risk if not done correctly.

^^ Agreed - my engine is making that telltale soft-tickety sound. I am suspecting the evil Timing Chain Tensioner.

Question: When replacing the TCT - wouldn't it also be wise to replace the chain?

only have had to on one car, really really worn, and the guides had to be replaced also, but have had many-many tensions go bad!

in fact the dreded mis fire code has been related to either values out of spec or tensioner worn out!

Just fixed a car today, has been to 3 dealerships and they could not fix this mis-fire code, we have changed almost everything to fix this, injectors (now ap1's and gained 8hp on dyno), coil packs, ect, but finally got it! wont tell because all the time we have in this, you cant really charge for, but from now on we know what to look for and have a test! this guy tracks this car all time, it is pushed to its limit, he is fast, real fast on the track, vettes and porches no problem for him to take down, motor completely stock, suspension has been worked! Comptec WTF!

^^^ REALLY!!!??

I am trying to diagnose my misfire codes for a month now! (300, 301, 302, 303, 304, 1399) New plugs, new gas, cleaned injectors, about to do a map/ throttle body cleaning. Still throwing the codes.
