What's a good 2 way radio to buy and use for this trip? Thanks in advance.
Here is where I bought my last set. http://www.buytwowayradios.com/
Get a combination FRS/GRMS radio. The GRMS gives you greater range.
They also have a variety of headset options.
I hope this helps
Jim,
I would suggest purchasing the Midland GXT series. They are a more powerful radio, brodacasting at 5 watts vs the typical 1 watt on most other brands. Don't be confused as Midland also makes the 1 watt radios.
I know Best Buy used to carry the GXT series but you can find them online direct from Midland or if you have a Bass Pro Shop close to you they usually carry a good selection.
Expect to pay $89 for this set which is a little more expensive than the typical 1 watt set but worth the additional $
I would also purchase an in the ear or over the ear headset with either a boom mic or the hand held mic with a push to talk button. I found mine at Bass Pro Shops which is an in the ear type with a hand held mic (like the secret service use in the movies).
GL let me know if I can help any further!
Edit: The Midland GXT1000VP4 shown in the link from Captainbk is a great buy at $69 and is for the 5 watt radios with accessories.
