yeah, but is that in regards to the whole car or modifications?
if mods, what can/can't it be spent on?

Here are the Basic Rules
* Not including the required safety equipment, your car must be valued at less than $500… not what you paid for it.
* Safety gear includes roll-cage, harness, fire bottle and other important stuff… plus helmet and driver's gear.
* Wheels and brakes are subject to the "2X" rule: that is, if the OEM cost of any part is "X," then you can spend "2X" on wheels and brakes. Just wheels and brakes… not springs and shocks.
* Tires are up to you… as long as they’re DOT legal and rated at 190 or higher for treadwear.
* ChumpCar has two (2) race formats: 24-hour endurance races or Double 7-hour Enduros. Your entry fee covers both Enduros and these are separate races, with separate winners.
* Want to make sure that you get in the race? First 50 entries are guaranteed. ChumpCar limits the number of cars on the track, so – to be safe – get it entered and get it paid!
* If you cheat or screw-up or both… you'll be docked laps. We may also get creative with the penalties, but we know that sitting around while your team stares at YOU, and other cars are still racing… well, that’s enough torment and anguish.
* If you really cheat or screw-up or both… and you lie about… and get caught… or, you’re just a real jerk about it all, we may claim your car. We’ll pay you $1,500 for it as it sits. Then, we’ll auction it off with the starting bid at $1,750. Any money we raise over $1,500 goes to charity. And, yes, you can take the $1,500 we gave you to bid and try to buy your car back.

excellent, thanks for the info!
I'll read more into it later. definitely seems like something I'd like to be a part of on down the road with some more track time under my belt.
but for now, pit will do.
seems like a good place to learn more about it.

Man I really want to do this.
Hmmm.....where does one find a decent $500 car?
What's the realistic investment?

That being said, it is still the cheapest wheel to wheel racing you will get in to. We are thinking it will cost us $700 per person for the first race not including our personal safety gear.

Oh and you will need someone who is a good mechanic and can weld. Paying for labor on a cage is $$$.
I'm certain that he'd be pretty much the best option that I know of for caging.
