Launching
AP2's have a heavier flywheel than an AP1, so it holds the revs when you shift and removing the Delay Valve only causes more wear and tear on your clutch than improving the shifting. If you shift correctly you can avoid the delay. If you get a harsh delay you just did something wrong and its the car telling you it just saved you.
^^ That's what I have been wanting to hear. I wondered why the drivers were so more in-tuned to the car than the engineers.
Your opinion only confirms what I was thinking. The delay valve does not affect speed, so why bother it? If it only protects the car from imperfect drivers. Then I say it's an engineering marvel. No matter how good of drivers we are, or think we are, we are not perfect. I agree with Jake that this feature was designed to protect the car, and since it does not diminish performance, why go through the trouble?
I'm sure other members would have their differing opinions, but F-them. This seems sound enough!

This may sound dumb but here it goes. I was told to tie a sting from the mirror with a weight on it. Its call a poor mans dyno. When you launch, the weight will swing backand stay put . When the car reachs peak pull the string will start to fall back even tho you may have 500rpm or so till you get to redine. Once the weight moves holding that gear any longer is not benifitting you, you need to shift gears. Its 2:30 in the morning hope this sounds right. I'm sure you get the jist of what i am trying to say.
Also the delay valve (IMO) for the clutch comes in play somewhere between the weight moving and redline. I have not done the mod (honda built the car not me) so i believe its important to understand its purpose. Not forgetting the warranty void issues.
