I try to know as little as possible about a movie before I see it
usually you can tell enough by who's in it and who made it

Anything by M. Night Makesshittymoviesalot is horrible. He had one good movie in the 6th Sense and everything after has great trailers, and you love it until the 30 minutes where it seems like he was done taking a shit when writing the plot and just was like, ok we need to end it, here we go.... it sucks!

I think Shalamalam has a pretty good track record overall

 

The Village was the straw that broke the camel's back for me, I have never been so pissed at the end of a movie in my life. I wanted my $ back.
