Default S2000 Hood Material

I have this hole in my hood that was put there by the previous owner to funnel cold air to the intake. All is good with it but in the rain I need to cover it so I don't suck in water.

I had a great Idea to create some type of magnetic cover but after some research I found that magnets wont stick to the s2k hood. They do stick to the fenders.
So what is the hood made of aluminum? It is very light and I wonder how much weight savings you actually get from a carbon hood on this car.

yes. aluminum.

what is the little scoop made of? is it aluminum as well? if not, you might be able to magnetize that... but I would guess it'd fly off at speed.

you should be able to pick up an OEM uncut hood for cheap though if all else fails.

Are you using the stock air box? if so get yourself a cooling plate with a snorkel. that will keep the water out. i have holes in my hood- no problems.

Yep... it is aluminum too.

And I have the K&N FIPK air intake. So the hole in the hood lines up pretty good with my intake.

At first I wasn't sure about the hole but I definitely want to keep it now.

I say OEM. Since it is pretty light to begin with that the only true weight savings will be felt in your wallet.

The word I on the street is that CF hoods are so light that they shake around in the wind unless you have hood pins.
