Thumbs up Sound systems

So, after lurking (typical me) for a couple of months in the Electronics forum, I'm starting to get the itch for a sound system in the S. Something... better than stock. I just want to be able to hear vocals clearly, and some bass I can feel.

I'd be going w/ Fosgate stuff since there's a great deal to be had here, but not quite sure what's "enough" or too much for that matter.

Dynamat & similar alternatives--does it really matter w/ an open top? There's so much other road noise anyway...

10" shallow depth sub--I was thinking of just shoving this in the left corner of the trunk. I'm intending to keep the spare as well as the "busted tire well" also.

Amp--can I mount a 4-ch amp under either seat, or perhaps behind the seats?? I'm really not too keen on sticking it on/above the gas tank--there doesn't seem to be much airflow in there...

In any case, I'd like for the sub and perhaps the amp to be easily removable for track days. Any ideas, guys?? Someone have something I can listen to so I can get a better idea of where to start??

I had a really nice setup in my car. I know Alex does too.

I had Momo's in the SPODS behind your head, a 10" Audiobahn in a custom WLAURENT box in the trunk. Momo components in the doors.

About 400watts to the interiors and 300 to the sub....it was LOUD. Way too loud at times. I know Brad can vouch for it.

I had both amps mounted in the trunk. One above the gas tank and another in the center of the spare tire.

I could hear this setup w. the top down and it was clear as day up to 100+.

Had the ipod mounted too

This was the box I used....

Amps: (Still FS btw )

And I have to flash how the car once was

That's a pretty sweet setup, Pete. You mentioned a 10" Audiobahn--was that before the Alpine I see in the pic?

You didn't get any sound insulation, right? I'm just not keen on tackling that project of insulating stuff. Any resonance, etc?

That last picture is sick...

Ha. I get some decent hookups on electronics too. Working for Dell has its benefits.

That's a pic of another members. I had the same box w. the Audiobahn sub.

I didnt have any issues really w. vibrations except from the rear deck, where the top sets in. It wasn't bad but if you were looking for it you could hear it. It never bothered me.
