Default Dead Engine... Still

This post is making reference to an old thread located here:
https://www.s2ki.com/forums/showthread.php?...694#post1069694

I updated that thread and created this new one in hopes that someone would see one or the other who could perhaps help me out, so please excuse the dreaded "post whoring". In essence, my engine is dead, my insurance company sucks, first texas honda (despite otherwise AMAZING service from Armando) failed at repairs and I am in dire need of a shop that will provide a loaner during what will I fear be very lengthy repairs that will certainly involve a full engine disassembly/rebuild.

ok, so here is the deal:
i get it back after they resurface the head and replace various parts.
i drive it for 2 days, all seems well.
then i drive the car and it nearly overheats again(it hit 6 bars). Luckily I saw the guage and I vented the hot air using the ac dial and put it in neutral. doing so i was able to get it back to 4 bars and it didn't stall out and cut off... this time.
obviously the repairs didn't work. not only that, but the shop(First Texas) and the insurance company(USAA) combined, have wasted a month of my time and has consumed all the rental coverage USAA gives me. My problem now is finding a shop that will supply a loaner because my insurance company refuses to pay for a rental any more. If it takes a month like the last round of "repairs" this could cost around $600 in rental fees, which I really don't want to have to deal with. I know that Honda of Clear Lake(in Houston) will provide a loaner during repairs. I may have to take them up on this despite the very high tow costs and the troubles involved in sending the car from Austin to Houston. If anyone knows of a shop that could do a good job on my S2000's engine work/replacement that is in Austin(or even closer by, perhaps in San Antonio) it would be of ENORMOUS help to me. if anyone has any ideas whatsoever PLEASE call me at 336-5225 or 699-8100 ASAP and honestly feel free to call 24/7.

thanks a million,
Robert

If you go to Honda Clear Lake, talk to Doug Keith. He's the main service advisor there. Tell him your story and you should have no problem w/ the loaner car.

Good Luck,
Joe

I take it that you don't have a HondaCare extended warranty? If you did, they are required to give you a loaner for the duration that your car is in the shop (as long as the repair takes longer than 30 minutes).

I don't have the extended warrenty. I am now thinking about dealing with MZM Performance instead of the dealerships.

Here is a question:

Would anyone have any faith in an engine that had a warped head and was then resurfaced?
I really don't like the idea of owning an engine that has been repaired, rather than having parts replaced.
So, what would you guys think? and what would you do??

Any informed input on this would be extreamly helpful.

It should be okay.....
As long as the shop did a good job.... If it blows a headgasket later, you may be in for more headaches, though.... But that would only be if they didn't get it perfectly flat or didn't clean the block well enough or something stupid. It will marginally increase the compression ratio (not a bad thing!) if the head has been cut... If they're going to do that -- might as well mill it a little more for extra power :-)
