CAI's do help a little, but the car's design has the coldest air intake of OEM productions, so gains will be only within a few HP. I sell the Injen and AEM if you are interested in either.

Regarding the scratches, are you referring to swirl marks? or are you cleaning your car with dirty rags that collect dust particles which cause the scratches?

check in the wash & wax section and welcome to the group. hope to see you out at one of our local events sometime.

The CAI will be most effective with a better exhaust system, including the header. Conversely, a new exhaust and header will be most effective with a CAI. You get nominal performance gains with one of the two mods (less the 5hp depending on the vendor), but you get the most significant if you do both (10hp+, 13ft-lbs+). My suggestion would be to do the CAI and then the exhaust and header, not the other way around.

I don't believe headers and exhaust have shown ANY improvement at all...and results from the CAI showed a performance LOSS of 1-2hp on the dyno... As I recall it anyway... I've NOT seen any mod (other that SC/Turbo) which will give 10+hp (or combination of mods)... Easiest thing is prolly the JR airfilter which shows +2-3hp on the dyno.

removing the stock airbox lid will yield a loss in power

intakes that are not CAI's will yield losses

header - very minimal if any at all. I think this needs to be redynoed on Shing's car to see what the ECU has learned about it, ikf anything at all.

exhaust - gain very little if anything at all. mainly there for sound.

CAI's are gaining 3-4hp, a slight dip of 1-2 is what you were reading somewhere in the entire powerband.

It's true that most breathing mods for the S2000 don't do much of anything, if not being harmful. However, the V-AFC does make a dyno proven 10-15 HP, available only at WOT (wide open throttle), which is when it counts anyhow.

The combination of the Spoon Header, N1 exhaust and the Injen CAI have dyno proven horsepower increases.
