Help for a friend
Thanks man. Yeah from the looking around I've been doing I see most people are sticking with 17's. But it's his car and I know he said he wants 18's just don't know which ones, so I'll avoid that for now unless I find out a specific wheel he wants.
Ok, no offense Ravyn or anyone else because I don't mean this rude or anything but, just in case nobody has/can read previous posts - I will not be buying wheels/tires unless I can find out a specific wheel/tire combo. I repeat, I WILL NOT be doing wheels/tires unless I find out the SPECIFIC wheel/tire combo he wants. I'm not a rookie, I'm into custom rides too. I know how personal it is, trust me, I've been doing this for about 14 years, I'm just into mini trucks and hot rods and am a rookie to Honda's. I was asking for what sizes fit best as in height, width, offset, tire width, aspect ratio, etc - especially when it comes to having a 1" drop so we don't run into clearance issues. If anyone can help me, please, I appreciate the help. I'm trying to help my friend get a leg up on his car with stuff HE wants, while he is in the afghani sandbox so he can have a bit of a surprise when he gets home. I am doing nothing to his car that he doesn't want. He is a good friend and a good soldier and deserves a nice homecoming.
I feel ya on wanting to do things for your buddy. I'm currently in afghanistan now with 9 days remaining til I get back home. My car is at my parents house in the killeen/ft. hood area right now with all the parts that I have ordered for it.
I can't honestly recommend any of the shops in killeen/ft.hood area. Both deepstage and kr motorsports are way overpriced, and I know both owners. They thrive on making a living ripping the soldiers off. I used to go into both to see if maybe they had adjusted prices and such but they haven't. I do have a friend, that opened up a shop last year, but he is on veterans memorial blvd, and he's a honda guy (just don't know his pricing there, but I would assume he's trying to be competitive). Best bet to buy parts are from the forum sponsors, they will be much cheaper on parts compared to the local guys. Same goes for wheels. Most of the big sponsors sell wheels also. Tires, I would use tire rack. To get the tires mounted on the wheels, I would go to Firestone off 190 in heights where the Heights plaza is. They did my bbs lm's good, and I will be trusting them to do my volks when I get home also. I have also found that firestone is good for the alignments also. They have a flat lift, so even lowered cars are not a challenge there. Big plus for me.
