Default Vortech Install

Anyone have experience with installing one? Recently picked up a kit but am not to sure if i want to pay the high amount for the install. But because it is a used kit, there are a few small things missing(i.e. hoses, bolts, and possibly the aftercooler resevoir). If anyone has a pic of the full kit laid out or can tell what I have/need by a few pictures i'd appreciate it. Currently the blower is at Vortech getting rebuilt... Also it comes with the black box, vortech fmu, and an apexi neo. I'm debating whether or not to pick up an Aem Ems. I found a vender that is selling new 1052 non uego for 900 shipped. Any help is appreciated?

I was gonna go the supercharger route and I was told that it would be a good idea to get the AEM EMS for the fine tuning. Supercharger install shouldn't be that much, but what is gonna cost you is the tune / dyno run. I take my S to Nguyen Motorsports - 210-522-9796 to get everything installed and done right the first time. If anything is suspect, they take care of you. Ask for "T". Call him and ask him any questions about what you are gonna need and what possible routes you can take. Tell him Adrian sent you.

I bought mine the same way...but had an upgraded FM aftercooler. I paid for the install, but got a great deal from a friend. I wish I would've goone with a stand alone EMS from the get go and had it tuned properly....that's all the advice I can give.

Good luck.

EMS V2 - Dont have to mess with the dash coolant fix and the starting issues the EMS V1 had.

I had the Vortech S/C, and the black box was a flaming POS! I'd def. go w/ another tuning option. If a $700 install fee is giving you heartburn, going FI might not be the best idea. For both of my aftermarket FI installs, the costs kept piling up long after the install was complete! Good luck, hope your experience is better than mine was.

No, I know the install was going to be pricey. And I really trust the shop(Precision R) as they have rebuilt my motor and swapped in a new clutch for me. Im just trying to figure out what's missing from the kit. I don't want to waste the shops time and my own.

Guy, save the install money for an ems. I'll help you out and it'll just cost you some pizza and a beverage of choice. Is this your daily? It'll take about a weekend cause there is no way we can work through the middle of the day with these summer temperatures. I can help with the ems as well; enough to get you to the tuner safely. As for which ems; it really doesn't matter which one you get. If you get the non-wide band unit, just buy a separate wide band controller and sensor. I used the aem one. It works flawlessly. You really don't want a used wide band sensor. The lifespan is about 50k mi with it seeing just pump gas.

IM me if you have any questions.

Forgot to add, I'd make sure you have a couple strong fans cause it's insane H O T outside.

I just heard back from vortec and they found a piece if rubber inside the blower. They said that it was probably sucked in and it damaged 4 of the impeller fins. Sooo, they are upgrading it to the new trim and machining down the housing for the new impeller. Either way, the ems is on order and I will definitely take you up on your help for install. Yes the car is my daily but I've got my 600RR that I've been neglecting. I'll try to source some fans because of the heat. I removed the interior yesterday in my carport because of an ant infestation and I wa sweating like crazy. But at the same time, I did that during midday. I'll PM you when I get everything, I'd have to try and get a weekend off because I work nights and my weekend I Tuesday/Wednesday.
