How would anyone know if I've been here longer than 30 days when my residence is setup at my parent's house in Florida and I share my apartment in Texas with my girlfriend. Couldn't I say that I'm visiting her but my permanent address is in Florida?

It's illegal in Florida too but we don't have emission testing. If they are testing for smog and brakes, what does tints have to do with it? In this heat, I need my tints dark. I get headaches and suffer from the glare. That's why I'm always wearing shades while outdoors.

if your windshield wiper is ripped, and you don't replace it, you'll fail... if your gas cap is not correct, you'll fail... if your horn doesn't work, you'll fail... if one of your blinker bulbs is out, you'll fail...
thats tx for ya... lame, yes... but rules are rules... its all for safety

It comes does to when you take up residence. That means live and work here. Get a job here, you live here. Rent a place here, you live here. As long as you are hanging with your "Homies" all is fine.

Could I get arrested for telling the Officer that I just moved here? I figured I could always say that I'm visiting. Unless the officer reads me my rights I'm not going to jail for lying. I drive my FIT as my daily and never had a problem.
Texas is funny. I see people driving cars with cracked windshield and cops don't pull them over. In Florida, there's zero tolerance for that and you will get a ticket. Illegal tints are not really focused on unless they need an excuse to pull you over.
So, if I tell the officer I'm visiting my girlfriend can he ask for work numbers or pull up my residence on his computer?
