My buddy here at work is a Porsche 911 driver. He's given me a bunch of really good info on AutoX events that are coming up both through the Porsche club and the BMW club.
Here is the Porsche club website:
http://mav.pca.org/mav/index.asp
They have the following instructional classes:
http://mav.pca.org/mav/events/Schools.asp
And if February, they are going to Motorsports Ranch
http://mav.pca.org/mav/Events/Calendar.asp...ruary&Year=2005
Likewise, the BMW guys are here:
http://www.lscbmwcca.org/
Anyways, I just wanted to see if anyone else would like to take one of the AutoX Introduction courses or possibly do a Track Day over at MSR this year. I think I might try and do both.

The Maverick Region autocross and time trial schools are very excellent learning events. Lots of seat time, and the events are broken up in such a way that they allow people of almost any skill level to benefit. I would highly recommend them to anyone who is looking to improve their driving ability.
Also, they emphasize seat time (unlike the local SCCA school, where you'll spend hafl your day in classroom instruction) and low student-to-instructor ratios. Of course, I might be biased - I've instructed at the Maverick Region schools the past few years.

I can personally vouch for the Maverick PCA course. I did it two years ago as a total newbie and it was fantastic! One instructor for every two students (when I did it) and tons of seat time. It's the best bang for the buck you can get. I think the autocross 101 school was like $40 and that was a full day. The first half of the day, you rotate through different exersises for braking, skid pad and slalom. Then, after lunch, a full blown autocross course.
In each exercise and the autocross the instructor will first demonstrate it with you as a passenger and then turns it over to you as he rides along. It was a great experience. My only regret was that even though I requested Iain as an instructor I didn't get him.
